Jason Giambi has joined the 400 home run club.

Oaklands designated hitter connected for the milestone homer leading off the fourth inning of the Athletics game against Arizona on Saturday night, becoming the 44th player in major league history to reach 400 homers. Giambi hit a 3-2 pitch off Dan Haren into the right-field bleachers, watching the ball as it sailed out.

The 38-year-old Giambi received a warm ovation from the crowd of 21,295 and then came back out of the dugout for a curtain call at the Coliseum.

It was Giambis fourth homer of the year, his first season back with the As after seven with the New York Yankees. This home run also marked his 191st for the As, tying him with Gus Zernial for ninth in franchise history.
