CLEVELAND -Cliff Lee threw seven innings of no-hit ball before settling for a three-hitter to give the Cleveland Indians a 3-0 win over the St Louis Cardinals on Sunday night.

Lee (4-6) allowed only two first-inning walks until Yadier Molina opened the eighth with an opposite-field drive down the right-field line that hit off the wall for a double.

That broke a string of 20 in a row set down by the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, who was bidding for the first no-hitter at Progressive Field and first by a Cleveland pitcher since Len Barkers perfect game against Toronto on May 15, 1981.

Mark DeRosa hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Kelly Shoppach got a solo shot in the fifth off Chris Carpenter (4-1), who won the NL Cy Young in 2005.

Yankees 15, Mets 0

NEW YORK – Derek Jeter and the Yankees hammered Johan Santana in the worst start of his career, routing the Mets for the biggest blowout in Subway Series history.

Jeter went 4 for 4 and the Yankees got two-run homers from Hideki Matsui and Robinson Cano in a nine-run fourth inning, chasing Santana early to take two of three in a testy series at Yankee Stadium.

Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez shouted at Yankees reliever Brian Bruney in left field during batting practice and the two were separated by teammates, one day after they exchanged barbs through the media.

Once the first pitch was thrown, the Yankees provided all the fireworks.

They needed only four innings to set a season high for runs in a game, building a huge cushion for A.J. Burnett (5-3). They finished with 17 hits, three by No. 9 batter Francisco Cervelli, and pulled several stars before the seventh.

Phillies 11, Red Sox 6

PHILADELPHIA – Jimmy Rollins homered as part of a six-run seventh inning to help the Phillies bust the game open late, avoid a three-game sweep and beat the Red Sox.

Rollins led off the seventh with a tiebreaking home run off Josh Beckett (7-3) that helped turn this one into a rout. Pedro Feliz added a two-RBI double, and Rollins was hit with a pitch and the bases loaded to make it 10-5.

Rollins had three RBIs to salvage the finale and help the Phillies improve to 13-16 at home.

Chan Ho Park (3-1) earned the win in relief.

Rockies 7, Mariners 1

DENVER – Garrett Atkins and Todd Helton had three hits each and the Rockies beat the Mariners to match the franchise record with their 11th straight win.

Brad Hawpe doubled twice and Clint Barmes had two hits for Colorado, which has swept three straight series and is 13-4 under interim manager Jim Tracy.

The Rockies won 11 straight from Sept. 16-27, 2007, when they surged to the NL Wild Card. They won 14 of their last 15 that season, including a one-game playoff against San Diego to win the Wild Card.

Jason Hammel (4-3) gave up one run on five hits in 5 1-3 innings.

Seattle starter Jason Vargas (2-2) gave up seven runs and 12 hits.

Orioles 11, Braves 2

BALTIMORE – Ty Wigginton hit two home runs, Robert Andino drove in three runs and stole home and Brad Bergesen pitched his first complete game to lead the Orioles to a win over the Braves.

The Orioles have scored 19 runs in the past two games, after scoring just 19 runs in the previous 11 games.

The offensive revival came from some unlikely sources. Andino, who is replacing Cesar Izturis due to his recent appendectomy, had three RBIs in his first 70 at-bats. He had a bases-loaded walk in the third, and a two-run double in the fourth.

Andino also pulled off Baltimores first steal of home since May 23, 2007. In the second inning, with the Orioles ahead 4-0, Brian Roberts was caught off first.

Marlins 11, Blue Jays 3

TORONTO – Ronny Paulino hit two home runs, Josh Johnson pitched his second complete game of the season and the Marlins beat the Blue Jays.

The Marlins took the three-game series and won their eighth in a row overall at Toronto. The Blue Jays lost their fourth straight game and fell to 0-6 in interleague play.

Paulino went 4 for 5, scoring three runs and driving in three with his first career multihomer game. He hit a two-run drive in the second inning and added a solo shot in the ninth.

Johnson (6-1) gave up seven hits and won his third straight decision. He struck out six and walked three.

Brian Tallet (4-4) took the loss.

Pirates 6, Tigers 3

PITTSBURGH – Dontrelle Willis fought with his control for the third consecutive start by walking eight in 3 2-3 innings, leading to all of Pittsburghs scoring, and Robinzon Diaz drove in three runs to help the Pirates beat the Tigers.

Ross Ohlendorf (6-5) limited Detroit to one run and two hits over six innings for his first victory since May 18, leaving after throwing 91 pitches. The Tigers got to within 6-3 on Don Kellys two-run single in the seventh off Steven Jackson, but lost for the second time in the three-game interleague series during a bad weekend for Detroit teams against Pittsburghs.

Willis (1-4) left after throwing only 43 of 88 pitches for strikes, giving up six hits and six runs and striking out one.

White Sox 5, Brewers 4

MILWAUKEE – A.J. Pierzynski singled with two outs in the ninth inning off previously perfect Trevor Hoffman and starter Mark Buehrle hit his first career home run to lift the White Sox to a win over the Brewers.

Corey Hart homered twice and Casey McGehee added another solo shot for the Brewers, whove lost six of seven. Milwaukee went 1-5 on its homestand.

Hoffman (0-1) came in with a string of 18 straight scoreless innings and had tied the franchise mark for a reliever set by Earl Stephenson in 1972. But Pierzynski singled through the right side to score pinch-runner Clayton Richard with the go-ahead run.

Rays 5, Nationals 4

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Pinch hitter Willy Aybar got a lucky bounce, doubling off the third base bag in the eighth inning and the Rays completed a sweep of the lowly Nationals.

Carlos Pena opened the eighth with a double off Ron Villone (3-3). After Ben Zobrist struck out, Aybar hit a ball down the line that hit third base and angled away from third baseman Willie Harris into left field for a run-scoring double.

Gabe Kapler added a homer and three RBIs for Tampa Bay. Dan Wheeler (2-1) worked a perfect eighth and J.P. Howell pitched the ninth for his third save.

Alberto Gonzalez drove in three runs for the Nationals, who have lost 15 of 18.

Cubs 3, Twins 2

CHICAGO – Ryan Theriot drove in Derrek Lee with a bases-loaded single with one out in the ninth, and the Cubs beat the Twins to snap a four-game losing streak.

After Carlos Marmol (2-1) escaped a jam in the top of the ninth, the Cubs pulled it out in the bottom half and avoided a three-game sweep.

Lee started the winning rally with a one-out single off Jesse Crain (2-3) and moved to third on a base hit by Geovany Soto, who took second on the throw. The Twins then intentionally walked Mike Fontenot to bring up Theriot, who lined a single past second baseman Nick Punto and then got mobbed by his teammates.

Royals 7, Reds 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Brian Bannister pitched eight sharp innings, Miguel Olivo homered and drove in four runs and the Royals took advantage of sloppy fielding to beat the Reds for a three-game sweep.

Reds starter Johnny Cueto (6-4) lowered his NL-leading ERA to 2.17 despite the loss. All five runs against him were unearned after a pair of errors by third baseman Jerry Hairston Jr.

Kansas City outscored the Reds 18-6 in the series.

Bannister (5-3) gave up four hits and the only run he allowed was unearned after a throwing error by shortstop Luis Hernandez in the first inning.

Bannister, who had allowed 19 runs and 23 hits in 13 2-3 innings in his previous three starts, retired 10 in a row and 17 of 18 after Hernandezs error.

Dodgers 6, Rangers 3

ARLINGTON, Texas – Chad Billingsley earned his National League-best ninth victory, retiring 16 of 17 batters after an early error put the Dodgers behind, and Casey Blake drove in four runs for Los Angeles in a victory over AL West-leading Texas.

After shortstop Rafael Furcal botched an inning-ending double play with a bad throw that allowed two runs in the first, Billingsley (9-3) set down everybody but former Dodgers bust Andruw Jones until Nelson Cruz had a leadoff single in the seventh.

Jones homered for the second day in a row against the Dodgers leading off the fourth.

Blake had a sacrifice fly in the first and a three-run homer in the third off rookie left-hander Derek Holland (1-4).

Angels 6, Padres 0

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Juan Rivera homered twice, Jered Weaver pitched his first career shutout and the Angels beat the Padres to complete a three-game sweep.

Weaver (7-2) worked quickly on the mound and struck out five while only giving up five hits. He threw 119 pitches, 80 strikes, and won his fourth straight. It was the third complete game of his career – all have come this season.

Riveras two homers came a day after teammate Torii Hunter hit three against the Padres, who have given up 13 home runs in their last five games.

Rivera hit one off of Padres starter Chris Young (4-6) in the third and added another solo shot in the fifth off middle reliever Edwin Moreno.

Giants 7, Athletics 1

SAN FRANCISCO – Nate Schierholtz hit an inside-the-park three-run homer, Matt Cain pitched a four-hitter for his seventh straight win and the Giants beat the Athletics for a three-game sweep.

Pablo Sandoval added a two-run homer and Andres Torres matched his career high with three hits as the Giants won for the ninth time in 12 games.

Cain (9-1) ended a four-start losing streak against the As. He retired 15 straight batters after Jack Custs third-inning double before pinch-hitter Nomar Garciaparra reached on an error in the eighth.

Cain struck out a season-high nine and walked none in his third complete game of the season and second in three starts.

Astros 8, Diamondbacks 3

PHOENIX – Hunter Pence ended a slump with a homer and Lance Berkman also homered to help the Astros beat the Diamondbacks.

Brian Moehler (3-4) scattered six hits over six innings for the Astros, who won for the fourth time in five games. The right-hander allowed three runs, struck out two and walked two for his third win in four starts.

Stephen Drew and Mark Reynolds homered for the Diamondbacks, who have lost five of seven. Arizona is 0-5-1 in six homestands under A.J. Hinch, who took over for the fired Bob Melvin on May 8.

The Astros wasted little time against Diamondbacks starter Billy Buckner (2-3).

Pence was hitless in his last 12 at-bats before homering.
