Arizona third baseman Mark Reynolds has tied his major league record of 204 strikeouts in a season by striking out against Matt Cain in the third inning of the Diamondbacks game against San Francisco.

Reynolds is the only player in major league history to strike out at least 200 times in a season. He set the record last year.

The 26-year-old Reynolds is hitting .268 and has 43 home runs, second in the big leagues behind St. Louis Albert Pujols, who has 47.

Reynolds also has career highs with 100 RBIs, 93 runs and 74 walks in his second full season with Arizona. He doubled in a run in his first at-bat Tuesday.
