TORONTO 4, OAKLAND 2 (12 INNINGS)
TORONTO Lyle Overbay hit a two-out, two-run homer off Dan Giese in the 12th inning, giving the Toronto Blue Jays a 4-2 win over the Oakland Athletics.
After a two-out walk to Jose Bautista, Overbay hit a towering drive to center off Giese (0-1), who was called up from Triple-A earlier in the day.
Right-hander Jason Frasor (2-0) got two outs for the win for Toronto, which has won seven of its past eight against Oakland.
CLEVELAND 22, NY YANKEES 4
BRONX, New York The Cleveland Indians set the bar for Yankee Stadiums new record book, scoring 14 runs in the second inning of a 22-4 victory.
Asdrubal Cabrera hit a grand slam and an RBI single in the second as the Indians chased struggling starter Chien-Ming Wang and set several marks that could stand for a while at New Yorks swanky new home.
Mark DeRosa and Shin Soo-Choo each hit a three-run homer, Travis Hafner, Grady Sizemore and Victor Martinez had solo shots and manager Eric Wedge earned his 500th victory.
It was the most runs for the Indians since they beat New York 22-0 on Aug. 31, 2004, at the old Yankee Stadium. The 22 runs also tied the Yankees record for most allowed in a home game.
BOSTON 6, BALTIMORE 4
BOSTON Kevin Youkilis fell a triple short of the cycle and drove in four runs, leading the Boston Red Sox to a 6-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles.
Youkilis went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and two doubles as the Red Sox won their third straight after starting 2-6. Baltimore dropped its third consecutive game following a 6-2 start.
Mike Lowell had a pair of hits and an RBI for Boston.
Youkilis, coming off just his second hitless game of the season Friday, hit a three-run drive into the seats above the Green Monster off starter Adam Eaton (0-2) to put Boston ahead 4-0 after Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz singled in the third.
Josh Beckett (2-1) struggled with his control at times in his six innings.
MINNESOTA 9, LA ANGELS 2
MINNEAPOLIS Jason Kubel had his second consecutive four-hit game and the Minnesota Twins cruised to a 9-2 victory against the Los Angeles Angels.
Kubels two-run double off Kevin Jepsen (0-2) was the big hit of Minnesotas five-run fifth. He also scored three runs a night after finishing off his cycle with a go-ahead grand slam in Minnesotas 11-9 victory.
Justin Morneau had three hits and drove in a pair of runs and Delmon Young drove in a season-high three runs as the Twins won consecutive games for just the second time this season.
Kevin Slowey (2-0) worked deep in counts for much of his seven innings, but his lone blemish was Torii Hunters two-run homer in the second inning.
CHI WHITE SOX 8, TAMPA BAY 3
ST. PETERSBURG, Florida Paul Konerko homered and drove in three runs, Mark Buehrle pitched effectively into the seventh inning and the Chicago White Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 8-3.
Konerko has seven RBIs over his last five games. He had an RBI double in the first inning and hit a two-run homer in the fifth.
Buehrle (2-0) gave up eight hits, three walks and struck out five in 6 2-3 innings. The left-hander moved within two strikeouts of tying Gary Peters (1,098) for fifth place on the White Sox all-time list.
Carlos Quentin also homered for Chicago, which has won five of seven.
Tampa Bay left-hander Scott Kazmir (2-1) failed in his bid to open the season with three straight wins, giving up six runs and five hits in four-plus innings.
KANSAS CITY 2, TEXAS 0
ARLINGTON, Texas Zack Greinke did not allow a run for his third straight start this season, pitching a seven-hitter for his first career shutout as the Kansas City Royals beat the Texas Rangers 2-0.
Greinke (3-0) prevailed in a matchup of aces who started the day with the two lowest ERAs in the AL – Greinke at 0.00 and Texas Kevin Millwood at 0.64.
Greinke has thrown 34 consecutive scoreless innings, including 20 over his three outings this year.
He struck out a season-high 10 and didnt issue a walk while getting his fourth career complete game in 106 starts.
Billy Butler had an RBI double in the sixth and Miguel Olivo hit a solo homer in the seventh for the Royals.
SEATTLE 2, DETROIT 0
SEATTLE Edwin Jackson baffled the Mariners again, allowing five hits while working into the eighth inning to help the Detroit Tigers beat the Mariners 2-0.
Jackson (1-0), who beat the Mariners twice last season and has a career ERA of 0.40 against them, struck out six and walked one.
He outpitched Seattles Erik Bedard (1-1), who allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings. He struck out eight in his first start at Safeco since be beat Detroit on July 4.
Fernando Rodney pitched the ninth to pick up his third save.
Brandon Inge singled in front of right fielder Ichiro Suzuki to score Miguel Cabrera in the sixth, and Suzukis throwing error over the head of catcher Rob Johnson also allowed Gerald Laird to score.
